March 14, 2012 – Sooo Pinoy Food Tour Day 3 in Iloilo – Previous Post: Esca’s Garden Restaurant.
I used to think that Iloilo food is all about La Paz Batchoy but after two days of exploring the city, I realize that Iloilo is really a perfect foodie destination. After tasting so many local food of different versions, All Im excited about is our visit to Netong’s Original Special La Paz Batchoy.
Original La Paz Batchoy
It was our final day in Iloilo and before we head to Boracay for another series of food tasting, we went to the La Paz Public Market in La Paz to visit the restaurant who made our favorite Batchoy popular.
Batchoy Ingredients
I have tasted so many versions already like the one in Ted’s and Deco’s but after tasting Netong’s Lapaz Batchoy, I can say that the later is not just the original…. it’s still the best!

Ba-chui means peace of meat and this could be the root word or the origin of the word “Batchoy”. If in case you haven’t tasted Batchoy yet, It is a noodle soup that uses fresh miki with a delicious broth made from buto-buto broth mixed with pork liver, shrimps, chicken breast and slow boiled intestines.
Cafe Lata
The special miki soup is also garnished with crushed chicaron, fried garlic and spring onions. Along with their special batchoy, they also served their version of Putong Puti – a white rice cake wrapped in banana leaf.

They also serve Cafe Lata, a milky coffee served in an empty can of evaporated milk… its not just creative, its also good!
