Emilion Modern Filipino Cuisine – Sooo Pinoy Food Trip na Pilipinas!

March 13, 2012 – Sooo Pinoy Food Tour Day 2 in Iloilo – Previous Post: Turo-Turo Express at the Grand Tower Suites Iloilo.

Our next food stop was at Emilion Modern Filipino Cuisine located along General Luna Street in Iloilo City. Although some of the food they served was similar to the Ilongo food highlighted by other restaurants we visited on our first day, I still find Emilion Restaurants version equally interesting.

As a foodie with obviously big built, I normally spend my weekend searching for restaurants that is new and worth visiting to satisfy my gastronomic appetite. Eating the same fried chicken everyday is a little bit tiring but if you had it in other restaurants with different recipe… that is completely different story.

One perfect example is the KBL (Kadyos Baboy Langka) dish that Emilion Restaurant prepared for us. I can say that its better than the first one we had because it has more Kamote leaves and Kadyos which makes the color of the pork a little bit purple.

Their version of Dinuguan (Pork Blood Stew) is also surprising or should I say better than the usual. I was not able to ask for the recipe but after tasting their version of dinuguan, I think the distinct flavor comes from lemon grass and ginger.

I also liked their mixed vegetable called Laswa. The dish is an authentic Ilongo dish with a mix of okra, patola, squash, string beans, malunggay, saluyot and other local vegetables. The dish is similar to Bulanglang of Luzon but what makes it different is their use of shrimps to make the dish more savory.

What I like about this restaurant is their alfresco dining and the view of the Iloilo river is very relaxing.
