Green Mango Restaurant – Sooo Pinoy Food Trip na Pilipinas!

After visiting Igmaan Restaurant at Hotel del Rio, we had a short heritage tour. We visited an old port called Fort San Pedro which is currently having a rehabilitation / reclamation. Our next stop was in San Jose Church located right in front of Plaza Libertad near the new and modern Iloilo City Hall.

Bingka : A popular Street Food in Iloilo

Right beside the Church is the San Jose Catholic School, You will probably observe that in most cities and in other provinces that Catholic Schools will always be located right next to the church. Visiting a place will not be complete without trying their street foods and thats what Im trying to accomplish.

While taking photos of San Jose Church, We found a sidewalk vendor that cooks tiny Bibingka which they locally called Bingka. Everyone got addicted to it and we ended up having one brown paper bag with six charcoal-baked Bingka in it.

After our Bingka craze we visited the City Tourism Office located in the newly inaugurated City Hall then we went straight to our next food stop – The Green Mango restaurant in Valeria Street.

We tried the newest addition to their menu called Pepper Crusted Sibingan (P125 – P130). Sibingan is the local term for Blue Marlin… Where else can you see a fast food that serves Blue Marlin in a very affordable price? I like how they cooked it, the fish is tender and the balsamic dressing made me eat more… and more:)

We also tried their best selling Lechon Kawali. Imagine three thick sliced juicy and crispy Lechon Kawali for only P79? Thats only in Iloilo I guess, no wonder Iloilo is one of the favorite destinations by my foodie friends. You can really eat more for less:)

Green Mango Restaurant is of the handpicked restaurants in Iloilo by Unilever for their Sooo Pinoy, Food Trip na Pilipinas Campaign. To know more about the Food Tour, you can visit the Sooo Pinoy fan page on Facebook and follow @SoooPinoy on Twitter.
