Mesa Filipino Moderne : Sooo Pinoy Food Trip na Pilipinas!

March 14, 2012 – Sooo Pinoy Food Tour Day 3 in Boracay – Previous Post: Sur Boracay.

Mesa Filipino Moderne restaurant is included in the list of restaurants that Im planning to visit in Manila. I was surprised when I learned that we will be visiting its Boracay branch as part of Unilever Food Solution’s Sooo Pinoy Food Trip na Pilipinas campaign.

It took us couple of minutes to reach the restaurant since its quite far from Sur Boracay in boat station 1 but our we were glad that the restaurant was prepared for our visit. Soon after we secured our reserved seats, the food was served immediately and I was truly overwhelmed with the types of food they served.

Mesa’s Boneless Crispy Pata might just be the same Crispy Pata you’ll get in other restaurants but guess what? They serve it boneless, less work.. more fun! Their Bagoong Rice is not that special for me maybe because I just love my own recipe of this Stir fried rice tossed with shrimp paste.

Tinapa Roll Wrapped in Lettuce with Sukang Pinakurat is actually surprising. The presentation is unimaginable and I must agree, this is not a usual lumpia that you get in other famous Pinoy restaurants. I love how they incorporate smoked fish, tomato, onions and salted egg in one interesting appetizer.

Hito Flakes on a spoon is intriguing after looking at the dish but upon asking the Chef, it all became plain and simple. Its made of Crispy pulled catfish with mango salad in a spoon full of goodness. If you don’t like it spicy, you can remove the slice of chili on top.

I love their Laing Fried Rice with Adobo Flakes on top, It has a rich flavor which came from gata (coconut cream). If you dont like the taste of “Gata” or the smell of coconut, then this flavored rice is not for you.

I just love how their Swahe on the Rocks was prepared but for me, it taste like just ordinary stir fried shrimps. I like how they served their Chicken Binakol but more than its beautiful presentation I also like the taste of it.

I don’t know how they were able to prepare Crispy Boneless Tilapia but Its really good. I like anything boneless and like what i mentioned earlier… less work.. more fun! If you want to introduce filipino food to your friends from other parts of the globe, bring them to Mesa in Manila or Boracay. Food is fairly priced with nice food plating and the food is good too:)

Thank you Unilever Food Solutions for letting me discover Boracay and its flavorgasmic offerings! Let us all support the Sooo Pinoy Campaign! To know more about the Sooo Pinoy campaign, food lovers are invited to like the Sooo Pinoy page on Facebook or follow @SoooPinoy on Twitter.
